The Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) and the committee of the II International Congress of the Núcleo de Estudos das Américas (NUCLEAS) are honored to receive you and wish that you feel like you are at your work institutions to developed your activities.
Since 1950, year of its foundation, UERJ have consolidated in the academy and the community a democratic, multicultural, integrator spirit and, mainly, respecting the differences and inequality, identity marks of an university. This UERJ’s guiding spirit is followed by all the involveds at the teaching process and the research that make part of this institution universal sense.
About UERJ
The Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) was created December 4th 1950, thanks to the promulgation of the municipal law n° 547, which established the new Universidade do Distrito Federal (UDF).
Differently from the homonymous university established in 1935 and extinct in 1939, the new University gained force to become the reference of higher education, research and extension in Brazil’ Southeast region.
Since its creation, UERJ didn’t stop growing and nowadays is compose by six regional campis. The central campus, at the Maracanã area, and the regional campis of Friburgo (Polytechnic Institute - Mechanic engineering), of São Gonçalo (Professors Training College), of Baixada Fluminense (Education College at Baixada Fluminense – Pedagogy course), of Resende (Engineering College – Production Engineering course) e of Ilha Grande (CEADS – Center of Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development).
